Sponsorship
This year, the Club canvassed local businesses for sponsorship to help offset administration costs and membership fees. As result, we are delighted that the Blackwood Timber Milling Co. will be the Club’s sponsor for 2008.
Projects
Throughout the year, the Club has been involved in a number of projects some of which included the following:
- Each year, the Club combines resources with the Lions Club of Manjimup to host a picnic for more than 150 elderly residents from Bridgetown, Greenbushes, Manjimup and Northcliffe.

- After hearing of the plight of a Bridgetown resident who became wheelchair-bound after contracting multiple sclerosis, the Club came to the rescue and assisted in the construction of a driveway and path at their home.

- As a fund raising exercise, the Club co-ordinates the shearing of more than 1,000 sheep each year. This is also a valuable community service for small stock holders and ensures that the animals are treated for lice and worms.
- The Club has a catering caravan which is used at the Bridgetown Blues (providing midnight munchies for late night revellers) and at the Bridgetown Show.
- The Club’s tractor and carriage rides are very popular at the Shire Community Christmas Party and other local events.
- The Club joins with other local Clubs to assist the Lions Club of Boyup Brook in its hosting of Camp Quality for the families of children who are suffering ill-health.
New Initiatives for 2007-2008
- Renal Dialysis – The Club is concerned that renal patients in the Warren-Blackwood Region do not have ready access to services for treatment and, therefore, are required to travel excessive distances to Bunbury and beyond up to three times a week. The Government has rejected a request for a renal service at Bridgetown Hospital and the Club is now researching this matter further.
- Cemetery Seating - The Club is investigating the provision of seating at the Bridgetown Cemetery.
